Thomson Leng Musical Society delivered what I can only describe as a great evening’s entertainment and a fantastic way to start the festive season. The creative team made up of Director Donna Bell, Musical Director Billy Muir & Choreographers Jenni Main & Connie Uribe put the cast through their paces, resulting in a memorable and enjoyable pantomine tale of the story of Rapunzel.
Madeleine Keningale, in the role of Rapunzel portrayed the character in what I can only describe as every childs dream of being a real life Princess. Ellen Ryder, in the role of Quinn, providing a wonderful support and great partnership as your traditional pantomime leading boy.
Dame Trott, played by Tom Richmond marking a milestone decade of playing the Dame with Thomson Leng Musical Society, bringing the part to life as always and even popping in a little bit of musical theatre for all the Wicked fans out there “its nice to see me…isn’t it”.
The remaining principal cast always on hand to help tell the story and breaking down that fourth wall bringing the audience to life with Harold, played by Archie Turnbull, Fairy played by Leia Reilly, The Queen and King played by Eilidh McLaren Hussain &. Michael Sanderson and not forgetting our panto villains Gothel, played by Lucy Reilly & Doyle, played by Sean O’Rourke and last but not least Buboe, played by Nick Browne.
The singing and dancing by the principals and ensemble alike were excellent from the traditional pantomime opening right up to and including the Thomson Leng finale. The set was simple and bright as befits panto and the costumes were bright and appropriate to each character. Fantastic lighting by PC Lighting & sound provided by Accent Audio only adding to a wonderful performance.
Congratulations and a big well done to all cast, crew and production team for an amazing night of traditional panto fun. All the best for the Christmas & New Year and I look forward to seeing you all in 2025.
